Facebook 31 Oct 2026

pWotD Episode 3468: Facebook Welcome to popular Wiki of the Day, spotlighting Wikipedia's most visited pages, giving you a peek into what the world is curious about today. With 26,325 views on Friday, 30 October 2026 our article of the day is Facebook. Facebook is an American social networking service owned by the American technology conglomerate Meta Platforms. It was founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg, along with his Harvard College roommates and fellow students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes. The name Facebook derives from the face book directories often given to American university students. The service was initially targeted to Harvard students only before gradually expanding to other universities in North America. Since 2006, Facebook has permitted registration by individuals aged 13 and older, with the exception of South Korea, Spain, and Quebec, where the minimum age is 14. As of December 2023, Facebook reported approximately 3.07 billion monthly active users worldwide. As of July 2025, it was ranked as the third-most-visited website in the world, with 23 percent of its traffic originating from the United States. It was the most downloaded mobile application of the 2010s. Facebook can be accessed from devices with Internet connectivity, such as personal computers, tablets and smartphones. After registering, users can create a profile revealing personal information about themselves. They can post text, photos, and multimedia which are shared either publicly or exclusively with other users who have agreed to be their friend, depending on privacy settings. Users can also communicate directly with each other with Messenger, edit messages (within 15 minutes after sending), join common-interest groups, and receive notifications on the activities of their Facebook friends and the pages they follow. Facebook has often been criticized over issues such as user privacy (as with the Facebook–Cambridge Analytica data scandal), political manipulation (as with the 2016 U. S. elections) and mass surveillance. The company has also been subject to criticism over its psychological effects such as addiction and low self-esteem, and over content such as fake news, conspiracy theories, copyright infringement, and hate speech. Commentators have accused Facebook of willingly facilitating the spread of such content, as well as overemphasizing its number of users to appeal to advertisers. With 438,729 views on Tuesday, 27 October 2026 our article of the day is 2026 Israeli legislative election. Legislative elections were held in Israel on 27 October 2026 to elect all 120 members of the 26th Knesset and determine the governing coalition that succeeds the 37th government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The outgoing 25th Knesset became the first Israeli legislature to complete its full four-year term without early dissolution since 1988, ending the prolonged political crisis of 2018–2022 that saw five consecutive snap elections. However, the government's tenure was marked by political turmoil, including mass protests over judicial reform, the 7 October attacks and subsequent Gaza war, and recurring coalition crises over Haredi military conscription. Since 2024, Netanyahu has been the subject of an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court for his conduct in the Gaza war. In this proportional representation system, parties must meet a 3.25% electoral threshold to enter the legislature. With 271,783 views on Sunday, 25 October 2026 our article of the day is 2026 Brazilian general election. 2026 United States elections 25 Oct 2026

pWotD Episode 3462: 2026 United States elections Welcome to popular Wiki of the Day, spotlighting Wikipedia's most visited pages, giving you a peek into what the world is curious about today. With 42,984 views on Saturday, 24 October 2026 our article of the day is 2026 United States elections. Elections are scheduled to be held, in large part, on November 3, 2026, in the United States. In these midterm elections, scheduled to occur during Republican president Donald Trump's second term, all 435 seats in the U. S. House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the U. S. Senate will be contested to determine the 120th United States Congress. Thirty-nine state and territorial U. S. gubernatorial elections, attorney general elections, and numerous state and local elections, will also be contested. The lead-up to the elections was marked by an inflation surge amidst the United States affordability crisis, including on gas, healthcare, food prices, along with the Trump administration's imposition of tax hikes through high tariffs. The 2026 Iran war continued. Other key issues include opposition to water, energy, and pollution-intensive AI data centers; widespread restrictions on abortion access; corruption and self-dealing; and foreign policy, including declining relations with American allies, a proposed re-approachment with Russia, and proposed expansionism. The Republican Party also campaigned on changing aspects of English terminology for emerging technologies and geographic landmarks, including the Gulf of Mexico, New Mexico, artificial intelligence, and the Atlantic Ocean. Trump called on Republican-led states to enact rare mid-decade redistricting to boost the party's chances of holding power ahead of historical losses for the incumbent party during midterm elections. The moves prompted reciprocal redistricting from Democratic-led states through measures such as California's Election Rigging Response Act. In April 2026, the Supreme Court ruled in Louisiana v. Callais that parts of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 which enabled the creation of majority-minority districts were unconstitutional. The ruling was expected to create additional Republican districts, and scholars classified it as allowing for legal voting discrimination against minorities. The Trump administration made repeated false claims of voter fraud and used taxpayer dollars to fund Republican campaign advertisements. Federal agents went to residents' homes to question them about their citizenship and voting history. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 03:09 UTC on Sunday, 25 October 2026. Aberfan disaster 22 Oct 2026

pWotD Episode 3459: Aberfan disaster Welcome to popular Wiki of the Day, spotlighting Wikipedia's most visited pages, giving you a peek into what the world is curious about today. With 187,692 views on Wednesday, 21 October 2026 our article of the day is Aberfan disaster. The Aberfan disaster (/ˌabɛrˈvan/, Welsh: Trychineb Aberfan) was the catastrophic collapse of a colliery spoil tip on 21 October 1966. The tip had been created on a mountain slope above the Welsh village of Aberfan, near Merthyr Tydfil, and overlaid a natural spring. Heavy rain led to a build-up of water within the tip which caused it to suddenly slide downhill as a slurry, killing 116 children and 28 adults as it engulfed Pantglas Junior School and a row of houses. The tip was the responsibility of the National Coal Board (NCB), and the subsequent inquiry placed the blame for the disaster on the organisation and nine named employees. There were seven spoil tips on the hills above Aberfan; Tip 7—the one that slipped onto the village—was started in 1958 and, at the time of the disaster, was 111 feet (34 m) high. In contravention of the NCB's procedures, the tip was partly on ground from which springs emerged. After three weeks of heavy rain the tip was saturated and approximately 140,000 cubic yards (110,000 m3) of spoil slipped down the side of the hill and onto the Pantglas area of the village. The main building hit was the local junior school, where lessons had just begun; 5 teachers and 109 children were killed. An official inquiry was chaired by Lord Justice Edmund Davies. The report placed the blame squarely on the NCB. The organisation's chairman, Lord Robens, was criticised for making misleading statements and for not providing clarity as to the NCB's knowledge of the presence of water springs on the hillside. Neither the NCB nor any of its employees were prosecuted and the organisation was not fined. The Aberfan Disaster Memorial Fund (ADMF) was established on the day of the disaster. It received nearly 88,000 contributions, totalling £1.75 million. The remaining tips were removed only after a lengthy fight by Aberfan residents against resistance from the NCB and the government on the grounds of cost. The site's clearance was paid for by a government grant and a forced contribution of £150,000 taken from the memorial fund. In 1997 the British government paid back the £150,000 to the ADMF, and in 2007 the Welsh Government donated £1.5 million to the fund and £500,000 to the Aberfan Education Charity as recompense for the money wrongly taken. Many of the village's residents developed medical problems as a result of the disaster, and half the survivors have experienced post-traumatic stress disorder at some time in their lives. Like his father and grandfather before him, Kim Jong Un rules North Korea as a repressive and totalitarian dictatorship, and his leadership has maintained the Kim family cult of personality. State media often refer to him as "Respected Comrade", "Marshal", and "Head of State". Kim's government has been accused of human rights violations. He reportedly ordered the purge and execution of several North Korean officials including his uncle, Jang Song-thaek, in 2013, and the assassination of his half-brother, Kim Jong-nam, in Malaysia in 2017. Kim Jong Un's ideology departed from his father's military-first Songun policy, professing a "people-first policy" and renewed commitment to communism. Kim has promoted the Byungjin policy of parallel development of the country's nuclear weapons program alongside the country's economy, named after the similar policy of Kim Il Sung. He has revived the structures of the WPK, expanding the party's power at the expense of the military leadership. Kim oversaw the world's four most recent nuclear weapons tests and extensive missile tests, including North Korea's first intercontinental ballistic missile. These heightened tensions with South Korea, the United States, and China, culminating in the 2017–2018 North Korea crisis. In 2018 and 2019, Kim took part in summits with Chinese President Xi Jinping and South Korean president Moon Jae-in and U. S. president Donald Trump, the first meetings between a North Korean and a U. S. head of state. Despite the brief thaw in relations, the negotiations ultimately broke down without progress on reunification of Korea or nuclear disarmament. He claimed success in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, with the country not reporting confirmed cases until May 2022, although independent observers questioned this claim. In December 2023, Kim declared that North Korea formally abandoned efforts to reunify Korea and proposed the two hostile states theory, symbolically demolishing the Arch of Reunification. In June 2024, Kim signed a security and defense treaty with Russia, while supplying Russia with material for the Russo-Ukrainian war. In October, North Korea sent soldiers to assist Russian units in the Kursk campaign. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 03:50 UTC on Wednesday, 21 October 2026. pWotD Episode 3449: Money in the Bank (2026) Welcome to popular Wiki of the Day, spotlighting Wikipedia's most visited pages, giving you a peek into what the world is curious about today. With 248,908 views on Sunday, 11 October 2026 our article of the day is Money in the Bank (2026). The 2026 Money in the Bank, also promoted as Money in the Bank: New Orleans, was a professional wrestling premium live event (PLE) produced by WWE. It was held for wrestlers from the promotion's main roster brands, Raw and SmackDown. It was the 17th annual Money in the Bank event and took place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. The event is based around the Money in the Bank ladder match in which multiple wrestlers compete to retrieve a briefcase hanging above the ring that contains a contract that guarantees a world championship match of the winner's choosing at any time within the next year. The men's match was won by Raw's Penta, while the women's match was won by SmackDown's Tiffany Stratton. Three other matches were contested at the event. Liv Morgan defeated defending champion Stephanie Vaquer and Becky Lynch in a triple threat match to win Raw's Women's World Championship, Oba Femi defeated Bronson Reed, and in the opening bout, Roman Reigns defeated LA Knight to retain Raw's World Heavyweight Championship. This was the first Money in the Bank to be held in October, making it the latest scheduled Money in the Bank in a calendar year, and the first one to be held after SummerSlam, as the event is generally scheduled sometime between WrestleMania and SummerSlam. This was also the first Money in the Bank to air on the ESPN streaming service in United States. Critics gave the event mostly positive grades, but drew criticism from fans towards the opening match, the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match, and the Women’s World Championship match mainly due to the finishes of each. Mathematics 11 Oct 2026

pWotD Episode 3448: Mathematics Welcome to popular Wiki of the Day, spotlighting Wikipedia's most visited pages, giving you a peek into what the world is curious about today. With 420,278 views on Saturday, 10 October 2026 our article of the day is Mathematics. Mathematics is a field of knowledge concerned with abstract concepts such as numbers, geometric shapes, sets, functions, and probabilities. It uses logical reasoning and proof to study and establish their properties, often expressed as theorems, formulas, and equations. Mathematics is widely used to model and solve problems in science, engineering, technology, economics, and everyday life. There are many areas of mathematics, including number theory (the study of integers and their properties), algebra (the study of operations and the structures they form), geometry (the study of shapes and spaces that contain them), analysis (the quantitative study of approximation and convergence), and set theory (presently used as a foundation for all mathematics). Mathematics involves the description and manipulation of abstract objects that are either abstractions from nature or purely abstract entities that are stipulated to have certain properties, called axioms. Mathematics uses pure reason to prove the properties of objects through proofs, which consist of a succession of applications of deductive rules to already established results. These results, called theorems, include previously proved theorems, axioms, and—in case of abstraction from nature—some basic properties that are considered true starting points of the theory under consideration. Mathematics is essential in science and engineering; it is widely used in every field of knowledge and in everyday life, as soon as data are manipulated, shapes, patterns, and structures are studied, and logical reasoning is needed. Although mathematics is widely used to model empirical phenomena, its results are established by deductive proof rather than by experiment. The relationship between mathematical truth, logic, and reality is a subject of philosophical debate. Some areas of mathematics, such as game theory, are developed in close correlation with their applications and are often grouped under applied mathematics. Other areas are developed independently from any application but often find practical applications later. Mathematical written records first appeared in Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, but the concept of proof and its associated mathematical rigor began in ancient Greek mathematics, exemplified in Euclid's Elements. Mathematics was primarily divided into geometry and arithmetic until the 16th and 17th centuries, when algebra and infinitesimal calculus evolved into new fields. Since then, the interaction between mathematical innovations and scientific discoveries has led to a correlated increase in the development of both. At the end of the 19th century, the foundational crisis of mathematics led to the systematic use of the axiomatic method, which heralded a dramatic increase in the number of mathematical areas and their fields of application. The contemporary Mathematics Subject Classification lists more than 60 first-level areas of mathematics. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 02:55 UTC on Sunday, 11 October 2026. Nidal Hasan 10 Oct 2026

pWotD Episode 3447: Nidal Hasan Welcome to popular Wiki of the Day, spotlighting Wikipedia's most visited pages, giving you a peek into what the world is curious about today. With 787,247 views on Friday, 9 October 2026 our article of the day is Nidal Hasan. Nidal Malik Hasan (born September 8, 1970) is an American mass murderer, former United States Army major and former physician who perpetrated the 2009 Fort Hood shooting, killing 13 people and injuring 32 others, on November 5, 2009. Hasan, an Army Medical Corps psychiatrist, admitted to the shootings at his court-martial in August 2013. During the six years Hasan was a medical intern and resident at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, concerns were raised about his job performance and behavior, specifically comments described by colleagues as "anti-American." Hasan was described as socially isolated, stressed by his work with soldiers, and upset about their accounts of warfare. Two days before the shooting, less than a month before he was due to deploy to Afghanistan, Hasan gave away many of his belongings to a neighbor. Prior to the shooting, an investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) concluded Hasan's email correspondence with the late Imam Anwar al-Awlaki was related to his authorized professional research, and he was not a threat. The FBI, Department of Defense (DoD), and United States Senate all conducted investigations after the shootings. The Senate released a report describing the shooting as "the worst terrorist attack on U. S. soil since September 11, 2001." Controversially, the Army decided not to charge Hasan with terrorism. He represented himself in trial and admitted responsibility for the shooting, claiming to have switched sides in a "war on Islam" waged by the United States. A jury panel of 13 officers convicted him of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder, and unanimously recommended he be dismissed from the service and sentenced to death. Hasan is incarcerated at the United States Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. In early October 2026, President Donald Trump approved his execution by firing squad, the acting Secretary of the Army scheduled it to be carried out at Fort Hood on December 3, 2026 at 1 p.m. CST (7 p.m. UTC), and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced it would be livestreamed, which sparked widespread backlash. If Hasan's execution is carried out, he will be the first member of the U. S. Armed Forces to be executed since John A. Bennett was hanged for rape and attempted murder in 1961, and the first person executed publicly in the U. S. since Roscoe Jackson in 1937. It is most known for hosting Wikipedia, one of the world's most visited websites. It also hosts and operates 14 related open collaboration projects, and supports the development of MediaWiki, which is the wiki software that underpins them. The foundation was established in 2003 in St. Petersburg, Florida by Jimmy Wales, as a nonprofit way to fund Wikipedia and other wiki projects that had previously been hosted by Bomis, Wales's for-profit company. The Wikimedia Foundation provides the technical and organizational infrastructure to enable members of the public to develop wiki-based content in languages across the world. The foundation does not write or curate any of the content of any associated projects. Instead, this is done by volunteer editors, such as the Wikipedians. However, it does collaborate with a network of individual volunteers and affiliated organizations, such as Wikimedia chapters, thematic organizations, and user groups. The foundation finances itself mainly through millions of small donations from readers and editors, collected through email campaigns and annual fundraising banners placed on Wikipedia and its sister projects. These are complemented by grants from philanthropic organizations and tech companies and, since 2022, by services income from Wikimedia Enterprise. As of 2023, it has employed over 700 staff and contractors, with net assets of $255 million and an endowment that has surpassed $100 million. Christa Gail Pike (born March 10, 1976) is an American convicted murderer who is incarcerated on death row in Tennessee. In 1996, at the age of 20, Pike was sentenced to death, making her one of the youngest women to be sentenced to death in the United States during the post-Furman period. She is currently scheduled to be executed on September 30, 2026. If the execution is carried out, she will be the 19th woman executed nationwide since 1976 and the first woman executed in Tennessee in 206 years, since the hanging of Eve Martin in 1820. In the 2008 college football season, Keenum ranked first nationally in total offense and second in total passing yards. During the 2011 season, Keenum became the Football Bowl Subdivision's all-time leader in total offense, as well as the all-time leader in total passing yards and touchdown passes by a college quarterback. As a result of his on-field contributions to Houston's success, Keenum was named to several All-American lists. He is the only quarterback in Division I FBS football history to have passed for more than 5,000 yards in each of three seasons, and the only college player to reach the 20,000-yards plateau in career total offense. After being signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2012, Keenum threw for 1,760 yards and nine touchdowns in the eight games he started for the Texans in 2013 before being waived prior to the 2014 season. He was then signed to the St. Louis Rams' practice squad and then re-signed with the Texans later in 2014. In 2015, the Rams (who later relocated to Los Angeles) traded a draft pick to the Texans for Keenum, where he played until signing as a free agent with the Minnesota Vikings in 2017. After starter Sam Bradford was injured, Keenum came in and had a career year, setting highs in starts, passing yards, completions, and touchdowns. He led the Vikings to a 13-win regular season, followed by a last-second win, known as the Minneapolis Miracle, over the New Orleans Saints in the playoffs leading to an appearance in the NFC Championship game. Following that, Keenum played for the Denver Broncos, Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills, Texans, and Chicago Bears. He began his wrestling career under the ring name Pac in his native north east England with the Independent Wrestling Federation (IWF). After establishing himself throughout the country with promotions such as Real Quality Wrestling (RQW) and One Pro Wrestling (1PW), he began to perform overseas, most notably for American promotions such as Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), Ring of Honor (ROH), and Chikara, as well as the Japanese promotion Dragongate, where he won the Open the Brave, Triangle, and Twin Gate Championships. He broke the Monarchs' and Colonial Athletic Association's career records for strikeouts. At the 2003 Pan American Games, Verlander helped lead the United States national team to a silver medal. The Tigers selected Verlander with the second overall pick of the 2004 MLB draft, and he made his major league debut with the Tigers in 2005. He was the AL Rookie of the Year in 2006. In 2007, Verlander pitched the first no-hitter at Comerica Park. In 2009, he led the AL in wins and strikeouts, both for the first time. Verlander produced his most successful season in 2011, pitching his second career no-hitter and winning the Pitching Triple Crown, the AL Cy Young Award (unanimously), the AL MVP Award, and the Sporting News Player of the Year Award. Verlander played for Detroit for 12 years, becoming the ace in their starting rotation and a key figure in four consecutive AL Central division championships (2011–2014) and two AL pennants (in 2006 and 2012). The Tigers traded Verlander to the Astros before the 2017 trade deadline, and he went undefeated in his first five starts heading into the postseason. He was named AL Championship Series MVP and was co-winner of the Babe Ruth Award as the Astros won the 2017 World Series. In 2018, Verlander earned his 200th career win. In 2019, Verlander became the sixth pitcher in MLB history to throw three career no-hitters. He also had his first career 300-strikeout season and won his second Cy Young award while leading the Astros to their second pennant in three seasons. Verlander missed most of the 2020 season and all of the 2021 season due to injury. He returned in 2022 and proceeded to win 18 games with a sub-2.00 ERA on his way to leading the Astros to their second world championship. He received his third Cy Young Award that offseason, making him the first Astro to win multiple Cy Young Awards. Verlander signed with the Mets in December 2022, was traded back to the Astros in August 2023, and signed with the Giants in January 2025. Following one season in San Francisco, Verlander returned to the Tigers on a one-year contract in 2026; halfway through the season, he announced that he would be retiring at the end of the 2026 season. Verlander was a ten-time MLB All-Star and led the AL in strikeouts five times, in earned run average twice, and in wins three times. Ted Kaczynski 27 Sep 2026

pWotD Episode 3434: Ted Kaczynski Welcome to popular Wiki of the Day, spotlighting Wikipedia's most visited pages, giving you a peek into what the world is curious about today. With 376,033 views on Saturday, 26 September 2026 our article of the day is Ted Kaczynski. Theodore John Kaczynski ( ; May 22, 1942 – June 10, 2023), also known as the Unabomber ( ), was an American mathematician and domestic terrorist. A mathematics prodigy, he abandoned his academic career in 1969 to pursue a reclusive primitive lifestyle and lone wolf terrorism campaign. Kaczynski murdered three people and injured 23 others between 1978 and 1995 in a nationwide mail bombing campaign against those he believed to be advancing modern technology and the destruction of the natural environment. He authored a roughly 35,000-word manifesto and social critique, Industrial Society and Its Future (1995), which opposes all forms of technology, rejects leftism, advocates cultural primitivism, and ultimately suggests violent revolution. In 1971, Kaczynski moved to a remote cabin without electricity or running water near Lincoln, Montana, where he lived as a recluse while learning survival skills to become self-sufficient. After witnessing the destruction of the wilderness surrounding his cabin, he concluded that living in nature was becoming impossible and resolved to fight industrialization and its destruction of nature through terrorism. In 1979, Kaczynski became the subject of what was, by the time of his arrest in 1996, the longest and most expensive investigation in the history of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The FBI used the case identifier UNABOM (University and Airline Bombing) before his identity was known, resulting in the media naming him the "Unabomber". In 1995, Kaczynski sent a letter to The New York Times promising to "desist from terrorism" if the Times or The Washington Post published his manifesto, in which he argued that his bombings were extreme but necessary in attracting attention to the erosion of human freedom and dignity by modern technologies. The FBI and U. S. attorney general Janet Reno pushed for the publication of the essay, which appeared in The Washington Post in September 1995. Upon reading it, Kaczynski's brother, David, recognized the prose style and reported his suspicions to the FBI. After his arrest in 1996, Kaczynski—maintaining that he was sane—tried and failed to dismiss his court-appointed lawyers because they wished him to plead insanity to avoid the death penalty. He pleaded guilty to all charges in 1998 and was sentenced to several consecutive life terms in prison without the possibility of parole. In 2021, he received a cancer diagnosis and stopped treatment in March 2023. Kaczynski hanged himself in prison in June 2023. Macklemore 17 Sep 2026

pWotD Episode 3424: Macklemore Welcome to popular Wiki of the Day, spotlighting Wikipedia's most visited pages, giving you a peek into what the world is curious about today. With 213,767 views on Wednesday, 16 September 2026 our article of the day is Macklemore. Benjamin Hammond Haggerty (born June 19, 1983), better known by his stage name Macklemore ( MAK-lə-mor; formerly Professor Macklemore), is an American rapper. A native of Seattle, Washington, he started his career in 2000 as an independent artist releasing: Open Your Eyes (2000), The Language of My World (2005), and The Unplanned Mixtape (2009). He rose to international success collaborating with producer Ryan Lewis as the duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (2009–2016). Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's 2012 single "Thrift Shop" (featuring Wanz) became the first self-released song to peak the Billboard Hot 100 in 11 years. Their second single, "Can't Hold Us" (featuring Ray Dalton), also peaked on chart, making Macklemore and Lewis the first duo in the chart's history to have their first two singles both reach the peak position. Their debut studio album The Heist (2012) peaked at number 2 on the U. S. Billboard 200. The duo entered into a slightly unusual 3-month, one-album contract with Warner Bros.'s independent distribution arm, ADA, which allowed them to retain control over their Intellectual property and maintain their "artistic integrity". At the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, the duo won Best New Artist, Best Rap Album (The Heist), Best Rap Song ("Same Love") and Best Rap Performance ("Thrift Shop"). The duo's second album, This Unruly Mess I've Made (2016), followed thereafter. In June 2017, Macklemore released the single "Glorious" (featuring Skylar Grey), which marked his return to the music industry as well as his first major single produced without Lewis since his mainstream breakthrough. Macklemore released his second solo studio album, Gemini, in September of that year, peaking at number 2 on the Billboard 200. On March 3, 2023, he released his third album Ben, which peaked at number 18. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 02:31 UTC on Thursday, 17 September 2026. 2014 European Parliament election 16 Sep 2026

pWotD Episode 3423: 2014 European Parliament election Welcome to popular Wiki of the Day, spotlighting Wikipedia's most visited pages, giving you a peek into what the world is curious about today. With 526,535 views on Tuesday, 15 September 2026 our article of the day is 2014 European Parliament election. The 2014 European Parliament election was held in the European Union (EU) between 22 and 25 May 2014. It was the 8th parliamentary election since the first direct elections in 1979, and the first in which the European political parties fielded candidates for President of the Commission. The candidates, sometimes referred to by the German term Spitzenkandidaten (English: top candidates), were Jean-Claude Juncker for the European People's Party, Martin Schulz for the Party of European Socialists, Guy Verhofstadt for the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party, Ska Keller and José Bové jointly for the European Green Party and Alexis Tsipras for the Party of the European Left. The Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists and the European Alliance for Freedom declined to nominate candidates. While the European People's Party lost ground to the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, it remained the largest faction in the new Parliament, resulting in the EPP's nomination of Jean-Claude Juncker as Commission President at the European Council. In turn, the European Council accepted the nomination by a simple majority (only David Cameron and Viktor Orban voted against Juncker).
